Rich Thometz


Rich in the President of The BurnBrae Companies and is responsible for managing the firm's acquisitions and operations. Rich has worked in the development industry in for over three decades, in both business and legal capacities. He has owned and operated Hailey Development, LC (, a residential development firm, since 1998, along with Efficient Home, LLC, an energy efficiency services contractor located in Maryland. His prior work included ten years in development and legal roles with Weyerhaeuser’s homebuilding subsidiary, Winchester Homes. Rich got his start in the development industry in 1984 with developers Kenn Roberts and Tom Munz. Since that time, he has been involved in the development of over 9,000 residential lots in communities in Maryland, Virginia, Delaware and Florida. He is a past president of the Maryland National Capital Building Industry Association and the Maryland State Builders Association (now merged as the Maryland Building Industry Association, or MBIA), and has served on the boards of numerous nonprofit organizations focused on crisis shelter housing and English literacy initiatives. Rich received his Bachelors in Accounting from the University of Maryland, magna cum laude; a Bachelors from Maryland in Political Science, also magna cum laude; and a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center, cum laude, along with undergraduate studies at the University of Idaho.
